Images play a very important part in our lives. Images are necessary for thinking.
Say, if I ask you to imagine yourself standing in front of the White House, you won’t be able to do that if you have never seen it in your life.
If one wants to think about something specific, he has to have a certain image in his mind.
There are 5 different kinds of images. One of them being, the Imaginative Image.
Imagination is the ability to produce and simulate novel objects, people and ideas in the mind without any immediate input of the senses. It is also described as the forming of experiences in one’s mind, which can be re-creations of past experiences such as vivid memories with imagined changes, or they can be completely invented and possibly fantastic scenes.
The cognate term of mental imagery may be used in psychology for denoting the process of reviving in the mind recollections of objects formerly given in sense perception.
Those images might be a result of certain experiences one has had in the past with selected changes and modifications.
Sometimes, imagination can be the bridge between ‘what is’ and ‘what can be’.
Imagination is the real, undisputed intelligence. Imagination stimulates creativity and innovation.
Without imagination, we would still have been far less developed than we are today.
Though, one should also keep in mind that not everyone is capable of such high precision imagination. And some can’t create mental images at all.
And there is a difference between Imagination and Daydreaming.
Imagination is more important than knowledge.
